2006 SEATA Athletic Training Educators' Conference

1st Biennial SEATA Athletic Training Educators' Conference

Atlanta, GA was the site of the 1st Biennial SEATA Athletic Training Educators' Conference, held February 10-11 in conjunction with the SEATA Athletic Training Student Symposium.  Attendees numbered in excess of 135 educators representing 6 districts of the NATA.  Combined with the SEATA student attendees, over 650 attended this joint conference.  Highlights of the Educators' Conference included talks by Ken Knight, Chairman of the NATA Educators Council, Greg Gardner, JRC-AT representative, Denise Fandel, BOC executive director, as well as leading educators in the field of athletic training education.

Though a bit different from the traditional symposium setting, the District IX Educators’ Conference focused on “round table” discussions.  This enabled attendees to share and discuss current issues in the academic arena that are facing academicians today through both facilitated discussion and social interactions.

Co-Chairs Mike Brunet and Bud Cooper want to thank Program Chairperson Sue Shapiro and Brian Bogdanowicz for putting together an outstanding educational format.  Be sure to keep this conference in mind for 2008!  Thank you to all who attended and be sure to check the SEATA Educator’s Conference web page for updates and future opportunities.
